In the morning we set out to find this big rope swing located near Lihue. After driving for what seemed like forever, we came to the trailhead, but it was blocked off. The whole thing is technically on private property, but in the past it had been easily accessible.
Kate’s friend, Annie later told us that over the years people have died using the rope swing. The weird thing is there seems to be a pattern to it. Always males in their 30s. It always has to do with their trajectory after letting go of the rope. Something like that. So it was finally blocked off after the last death.
Instead, we headed to Poipu. Some guy offered us pot, we got lunch, swam in the ocean, and saw some seals.
